Public transport in Ghent

Ghent’s public transport network is operated by the Flemish Transport Company De Lijn and consists of trams and buses (a full map can be found here).

Tickets can be bought from vending machines, at special De Lijn offices or from the driver. The ticket (€3) has to be stamped on board of the vehicle and is then valid for 1 hour with unlimited travel. Day passes may be a good option and can be bought at a presale point (e.g. at the front left of the Gent Sint Pieters station; search for “Lijnwinkel”, open on Sat from 10 am - 5 pm & on weekdays from 7 am to 7 pm). A very useful tram line is line 1, which connects the train station Sint-Pieters with the city centre (e.g. Castle Gravensteen) and can be used to reach the Congress Venue (ICC Ghent) from downtown: about every 6 min, from 6 AM until 11 PM, see downtown stops below. Exit from the tram at stop “Van Monckhovenstraat”and walk 7 min across the Citadelpark to get to the entrance of the ICC.

The following De Lijn bus routes have a stop at the 'Ledeganckstraat', directly opposite the main entrance to the ICC: routes 9, 28, 34, 35, 36, 55, 57, 58, 7, 71, 72, 76, 77, 94 and 95. Al these routes, as well as the lines 73 and 74, run along the 'Ledeganckstraat' to the Gent-Sint-Pieters railway station. Check De Lijn's website for more information.
